Lately I have been getting myself more and more into the open world, exploration styled games such as Nether. Today I was informed that Defiance, a game from that same genre which I have had some interest in, is going to have the price tag removed and added to the list of games which are Free to Play. If you are looking for an open world game where you can team up with other people in game, Defiance is a great option for you. The game originally launched about a 11 months ago with a price tag of $59.99. Two months later it’s price dropped to $39.99 and now it sits at a price of $10. In another one month the game will be free. Cant beat that.
Now a statement from the producer of Defiance, Trick Dempsey.
“By going free to play, we’re lowering the barriers to entry and welcoming anyone to come play in our world.” “We’ve known this transition was coming for a long time, and we’ve been changing the game drastically to address these issues prior to launch. Defiance was never a subscription game, so many of the issues endemic to free to play transitions were simply not an issue for us.”
Defiance will fully transition to a Free to Play title on June 4th.
