Valve’s Brian Coomer stated that they are just “days away” from releasing a virtual reality development kit when speaking at the BBC earlier this week. This kit will enable developers to create game with virtual reality capabilities. The project has been in the works for some time now as they have been combining efforts with many others in the industry including Oculus Rift Virtual Reality.

Coomer stated: “There’s also technology in development at Valve based around head-tracking and headset manufacture and design. We are working with other companies right now but we have not made any specific announcements.”

On January 15th and 16th VR SDK will be released at the Steam Dev Days conference.

These new developments are supposed to offer developers alternate control options in the games they create. Possibly the touch pad on the new Steam controller will see a little bit of action.
